If you’re feeling sensitive to outer storms of energy, consider it a call to adventure. This final post in a series looks at how you may be called.
Is It Really an Outer Storm?
When you feel like you’re sucked into the chaos, can you really pin the blame on something outside yourself? Can you really outsource responsibility to the energy storms?
Of course you can.
But it may not be a wise choice.
We are most vulnerable to the outer storms of energy when we have a few inner storms brewing, too – especially if the same problems recur in patterns throughout our lives.
This may indicate that there are some unhealed issues that need to come forward, be heard, and be healed.
(Trust me on this – when our inner lives ask for healing, we always do well to say yes.)
If you are having ongoing, recurring challenges, remember to disengage from any outer energy that you may be burdened with. Do everything you need to protect yourself from the outer storms.
Then get the help you need to heal the inner storms, too.
Find a good counselor or coach, and support that work with deep shamanic healing.
All of the interventions we discussed in parts one and two of this series are equally effective for outer storms and inner storms.
Using these techniques can help ground you and get you focused on what really matters – regardless of the source of the chaos.
You’ve got tools in your toolkit to help you return to sovereignty in your life.
The Storms Show Us Our Sacred Vulnerabilities
When you’re sensitive to the outer storms, they show you where you are most vulnerable. The deepest, most painful parts of your life come forward.
Those vulnerabilities are sacred. They are also the parts of your life where you have the greatest strength, the greatest gifts to give the world.
If you are feeling affected by outer storms this week, remember that the very things that feel the hardest are the areas where you can shine.
Your vulnerabilities and sensitivities are truly your strengths – even when those vulnerabilities leave you open to picking up energy and emotions from others.
They show that you can access up the deepest part of your psyche, that you are capable of engaging with the world from this deep, rich place.
This is one of the gifts of the healer.
If you’re feeling particularly sensitive to outer storms of energy, consider it a call to adventure. Your wise inner self is calling you to a greater spiritual adventure than you may have ever known. Your wise spirit allies are calling you to service to help heal the world.
All that you need now is the ability to use that sensitivity by choice.
Discipline and Choice: Skills of the Shaman
When shamanic journeyers travel to other worlds and visit with nonphysical beings, it is always by conscious choice.
As a journeyer, I know that, without discipline and choice, I could easily fall into a pattern of not knowing which world I’m in at any given time.
Unfortunately, as adventurous as this sounds, it is also a hallmark of mental imbalance – whereas shamanic work is a healing path for imbalance, not its cause.
So, journeyers are always aware of the world we’re in at any given time – physical reality or the world of the spirits.
When we’re in the world of the spirits, we know where we are and who we are with, and we entered that world by choice.
When we’re called to travel to another world to engage in work or learning, we only go when we make the conscious decision to do so.
This same kind of discipline can be applied when you’re vulnerable to the outer storms of energy.
But in order for the discipline to have any effect, you first need to be aware of the storms and have the tools you need to disengage from them.
Thanks to your own inner wisdom (with a bit of help from parts one and two of this series), you’ve got that.
Now, what are you going to do with it?
Consciously decide when you’ll allow the outer energy to effect you.
When it accidentally effects you without your consent, interrupt the pattern, establish healthy boundaries, and focus on what matters in your life.
This is your discipline as a person gifted with sensitivity, as a person who may be called to heal.
Your empathy can change lives, starting with your own. If you resonate with this, it’s time to hone your gifts, take your sovereignty in hand, and turn your vulnerabilities into great treasure for the world.
What is your sensitivity calling you toward? What gifts might be found in your vulnerability today? (I know that these are tender questions… I invite you to explore them gently in the comments below.)
